The most time-sensitive item right now is in Missouri: the Dental Board's Periodontal EFDA rule is open for written comment through Oct 15, 2026, and the Missouri Dental Hygienists' Association sued on Sept 29 to block it. Nationally, CMS's CY2027 Physician Fee Schedule final rule (a Medicare pay cut when the OBBBA's temporary 2.5% bump expires, plus a proposed 50% cut to same-day E/M visits billed with modifier -25) is expected in late Oct–Nov 2026. The physician-authored Patients First Act (H.R. 9693), which would replace yearly pay patches with a permanent MEI-linked update, got a House Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing on Sept 15. The Improving Seniors' Timely Access to Care Act has cleared both House committees and still awaits a floor vote. MO and KS are in interim (legislatures adjourned; Missouri pre-filing opens Dec 1, 2026), and Missouri's Nov 3 ballot includes Amendment 3 (abortion/minor gender-transition care), which polls show as a dead heat.
